Penn State Beaver Women’s Volleyball Participates in Hunger Awareness Month
Penn State Beaver Athletics and the Women's Volleyball Team reach out to the community to help them in this project to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Beaver Fall Salvation Army
The Women’s Volleyball Program at Penn State Beaver is getting involved in the community this fall by taking part in Hunger Awareness Month. In partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Beaver Falls Salvation Army, the team has set up several locations on the Beaver Campus where students, faculty, staff and community members can drop off non-perishable items. The two designated locations are the Wellness Center Front Desk and the Student Union Building in room 101.
In addition to the drop boxes, the team will also be collecting during two home games next week. On Monday, September 10th when the Lady Lions take on CCBC at 7PM, they will be giving a free hot dog to those fans that bring an item to donate and on Friday, September 14th when they take on WCCC at 7PM, they will be giving away T-Shirts to the first 50 fans that bring items to donate. During the afternoon of the 14th, the team will be stationed at several locations on campus accepting donations as well. Members of the team will be at the following locations at the following times:
12:00PM – Ross Administration Building
12:15PM – Student Union Building – Upper Lobby
12:30PM – Harmony Hall Lobby
12:45PM – Outside the Michael Baker and General Classroom Buildings
Just before the match starts on Friday evening, members from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Beaver Falls Salvation Army will be on hand to announce how many items have been donated and how many community members are being helped by this project.

Canned soups, stews, pastas
Canned fruits and juice
Canned vegetables
Powdered milk
Infant formula and cereal
Jarred baby food
Personal hygiene items are also appreciated
(shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, soap, etc.)
