DUNMORE, Pa. —The Penn State Beaver women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 loss against PSUAC rival Penn State Scranton in Saturday afternoon's road bout.
After a scoreless game in regulation, the Lady Lions battled Scranton in overtime but came up short after the opponents managed to put up a point on the scoreboard first on a corner kick that curved into Beaver's goal at 94th minute, handing the Lady Lions their first conference loss of the season.
Freshman Veronica Andujar (Weston/American Heritage Boca/Delray) had two SOG. Sophomore Stephanie Sosa-Bravo (New York/Grand St. Campus), freshman Rachel Gaiser (Evans City/Seneca Valley) and freshman Karyme Martinez (Colorado Springs /James Irwin Charter) each finished with one SOG apiece.
At the net, freshman Megan Bartley (Austintown/Austintown Fitch) had six saves against the seven SOG she faced.
Beaver is now 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the PSUAC conference standings. The Lady Lions (0-2) will return to action Sunday, Sept. 22, where they will face off against host and PSUAC rival Penn State Lehigh Valley. Game time is at 11 a.m.
