Strong First Half Powers Beaver to 60–50 Road Win, Secures First-Round Bye
Penn State Beaver came out with urgency and never looked back Thursday night, building a commanding first-half lead and holding firm down the stretch to secure an important 60–50 road victory at Wunderly Gym.
Monaca, PA - Penn State Beaver earned a 60–50 road win on February 12, 2026 at Wunderly Gym, using a fast start to take control early. Beaver led 38–24 at halftime behind balanced scoring and a steady defensive effort that limited clean looks and forced mistakes. The second half tightened up, but Beaver's first-half cushion held as the game finished with a 10-point margin.
Ny'zir Dix powered the Beaver offense with a game-high 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding five rebounds and a steal despite four turnovers. Jermaine Knaff complemented him with 17 points (including 2-of-5 from three) and five rebounds, while Jabari Gayle chipped in 11 points and seven boards. Off the bench, Ronyell Coston provided a key lift with nine points and four assists, and Beaver's work on the glass (38 rebounds, including eight offensive) helped offset 17 team turnovers and a 15-of-23 night at the line.
As a team, Beaver shot 40.4% from the field and did enough in the half-court to protect its early advantage, even as the pace and efficiency dipped after the break. The combination of Dix's shot-making, Knaff's perimeter scoring, and timely contributions from the supporting cast allowed Beaver to manage the closing minutes and secure the 60–50 final. With the win, Beaver secured a first-round bye and will play the winner of PSU Greater Allegheny vs. PSU New Kensington on Tuesday, February 17.
