Beaver fell in the PSUAC opener to PSU Shenango
Monaca, PA- In a thrilling college basketball matchup on November 18, 2025, Penn State Shenango narrowly defeated Penn State Beaver with a final score of 98-97. The game, held at Beaver Fieldhouse, showcased a dramatic second-half comeback by Shenango, who overcame a four-point halftime deficit to secure the victory.
Penn State Shenango's standout performer was Kevon Washington, who played 32 minutes and scored an impressive 28 points, including nine successful three-pointers out of 15 attempts. Washington also contributed nine rebounds, showcasing his all-around game. Darius Williams and Izzy Santiago were also key contributors, scoring 18 and 24 points, respectively. Williams excelled in playmaking with six assists, while Santiago added five rebounds and two steals to his performance.
On the other side, Penn State Beaver's Jermaine Knaff led his team with 20 points, shooting 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Trevor Franklin added 17 points, maintaining a perfect record from the free-throw line. Despite their efforts, Beaver was unable to maintain their first-half lead, ultimately falling short by a single point.
Statistically, both teams were closely matched. Shenango shot 44.4% from the field and 42.1% from three-point range, while Beaver had a slightly better field goal percentage at 47.3% and an impressive 48.1% from beyond the arc. However, Shenango's ability to out-rebound Beaver 43-32 and their superior ball movement, evidenced by 23 assists, were crucial in their narrow victory.
Beaver will return to action tomorrow, when they host Carlow University for a non conference match up. They will then return to PSUAC road action, traveling to PSU Hazelton Friday for an 8 p.m. Tip. Then going to Scranton on Saturday for a 3 p.m. match up.
