Bio
Phil Engelmore is entering his fourth year as assistant coach for the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions basketball program.
Coach Engelmore brings years of experience to the Lady Lions program. He has coached at various levels. Most recently, Coach Engelmore helped guide a club team from Avonworth comprised of sixth grade girls. He helped double their win total from the previous season.
Engelmore was also the head coach of the middle school girls at Ambridge and Sto-Rox schools. He led the Ambridge 8th grade team to a 16-3 record and a second place finish in the postseason tournament. In addition, Engelmore has coached in Las Vegas, NV, Freedom varsity girls, and the Ellwood City varsity girls team. At Ellwood City, Coach Engelmore had the varsity team ranked as high as 3rd in AAA by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. He also led the Ellwood City 7th/8th team to the Tri-County Championship in 1998.
Engelmore is no stranger to the collegiate level either. From 1993-1996, he was the assistant coach for the women's team at Westminster College. During his tenure there, Coach Engelmore's responsibilities were recruiting, defensive schemes, forward/center development, and conducting the off-season conditioning program.
His knowledge and experience make Coach Engelmore a great asset to the Lady Lion basketball program. His responsibilities include on-floor coaching in practice and games, individual player development, recruiting, and suggesting offensive/defensive adjustments during games.
